The National Imperial glass
collectors' society, inc.

The National Imperial Glass Collectors’ Society, Inc. (NIGCS) was founded in 1983 by a gathering of collectors from the Bellaire, Ohio, area and from across the United States. Membership in NIGCS includes over 400 members from all across the US and Canada. NIGCS is registered as a 501(c) (3) Not for Profit organization, is governed by an elected board, and is always looking for members who can contribute to the success of the society.

In 2003 the National Imperial Glass Museum, located in Bellaire, Ohio, and operated by NIGCS, opened its doors. Due to the Museum’s location and area resources related to the history of Imperial Glass Corp., Conventions and Board Meetings are held in the Bellaire area.

While Candlewick is very popular among collectors in NIGCS, many collectors have a variety of other Imperial pieces. Some members specialize in one or more lines of Imperial such as Cape Cod, Lace Edge, Mt. Vernon/Washington, Fancy Colonial, Reeded, and Free Hand. Other members collect types of glass like milk glass, slag glass, or animals. Regardless of what Imperial glass they collect, new NIGCS members will find other club members who are interested in the same type of glass they enjoy.

We are a non-profit 501(3)(c) corporation, with tax exempt status.
